REVIEW The Ordinary (Azelaic Acid, Niacinamide + Zinc, Salicylic Acid, Buffet, High Spreadability Fl

Hello!

The most highly requested review this month goes to.... The Ordinary!

From left to right: Niacinamide +Zinc, High Spreadability Fluid Primer, Salicylic Acid 2%, Buffet, Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%

Now the first one I'm gonna discuss is the Azelaic Acid.

The name's pretty new too me. I haven't used any product with this substance as the main star so it's exciting to try.

This is how big the product is, and how the texture of the product looks like.

It's a gel-like cream, which sets to matte-finish when applied. It almost feels like primer (due to high percentage of dimethicone in it) with a fun cooling sensation. YES, cooling sensation. It feels strangely kinda mint, but don't worry it has no mint whatsoever in it.

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Isodecyl Neopentanoate, Dimethicone, Azelaic Acid, Dimethicone/Bis-Isobutyl PPG-20 Crosspolymer, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Polysilicone-11, Isohexadecane, Tocopherol, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Isoceteth-20, Polysorbate 60, Triethanolamine, Ethoxydiglycol, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin.

It is FRAGRANCE FREE, I think all Ordinary products are. Which is a PLUS.

I did feel a slight itchiness on my cheeks when I used this product for the very first time but it goes away in seconds. And not happen again the next time, until now.

I use it only at night because I never feel like I can use any kind of acid in the morning.

On the packaging you will see that it is safe to use AM (mornings) and/or PM, so you can use it twice a day or once a day, to your liking.

Azelaic acid is a multifunctional ingredient, it can brighten your skin will also improve the texture. It is also potentially helpful in reducing breakouts and what's really good about it is it's safe for all skin types.

I really recommend this one for you who have rough skin as it can smoothen the texture without the risk of breaking out. Ever since using this product I feel that my skin's texture is improved and it just feels nice everytime I put this on :D

Overall it's a 8.5/10 for Azelaic Acid.

The next one is High Spreadability Fluid Primer!

Okay, so..if you have been reading my blog for a long time you will notice that I did not review many primers (or any, even?). Why? Because primers that I had tried are not comfortable to use. They feel tacky, sticky, clumpy, etc etc that make me sort of loathe primers.

I was being super experimental when I decided to buy this. But I was delightfully surprised by it.

Why? Because

1. This silky primer is very nice to use and it sets on the skin very VERY beautifully.

2. It does not feel sticky AT ALL.

3. It gives you a clean, matte, finish without making your face look dimension-less.

4. Like any other The Ordinary products that I know, this one also contains NO FRAGRANCE so it's safe for all skin types.

Unlike many claims on medias that you can use it as a moisturizer, I suggest you to keep using moisturizer as this primer has so small percentage of Vitamin E (tocopherol), it won't be sufficient for your skin.

BUT as a primer, it's perfect. I'm giving this product a 9.7/10. Why not 10/10? Because it lacks skin nourishment ingredients but it's okay because primer falls in the category of makeup, not skincare (so I only deducted 0.3 points hehe)

The next product is Salicylic Acid (BHA) 2%!

Okay so I don't use this product much. My sister does, because she is having a problem with acne. To be honest I don't have much to say about how this product feels on the skin because I don't use it often. In fact I only used it twice, as a spot treatment on acne.

It is more liquid than the rest, but still feels nice to use. Again, it's FRAGRANCE FREE which is always a plus.

Did it help with my acne? Yes, but not as effective as Paula's Choice. It does have a pH optimal for exfoliation, but what's unfortunate is it contains hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel) extract. That is potentially irritating sensitive skin.

If you don't have sensitive skin, this product might be good because it can help you with clogged pores, BUT to use this one in the long run might not be a good decision because of the witch hazel extract. It can decrease your skin elasticity in the long run.

For this product, I'm giving a 7.5/10 because well, it's good but it's not special.

The next one is.. BUFFET!

This one has the longest list of ingredients hehe, because it's an all rounder serum from The Ordinary!

Unlike the other Ordinary products, this one is a mix of many beneficial antioxidant ingredients that will feel and do wonders to your skin.

Packed in a frosted glass bottle, with a dropper applicator, this serum can hydrate, nourish, and improve your skin overall because it contains a mix of many beautiful ingredients (glycerin, peptides, sodium hyaluronate, amino acids, etc etc).

(I will SOON update this post with pictures of the product inside, I wish I had more than 24 hours in a day huhu)

To sum it up, this product deserves a 9.9/10! I really love this, I use it day and night. I sometimes even use two layers of the product because I just LOVE this. Why not 10/10? Because it's slightly more inexpensive than the other The Ordinary products. It's still very affordable, though, so I only deducted .10 points hehe

Moving on to the next one, it's the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

Confession: I forgot to take an individual picture of the product, AND I lost the box. I did capture this one with the rest of The Ordinary products that I own, as seen on the cover picture.

So I will provide the ingredients list here:

Aqua (Water), Niacinamide, Pentylene Glycol, Zinc PCA, Tamarindus Indica Seed Gum, Xanthan Gum, Isoceteth-20, Ethoxydiglycol, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin.

As you can see, it contains NO FRAGRANCE, like any other The Ordinary products.

It contains a significantly great amount of Niacinamide.

It contains Zinc PCA, which can help as an anti-inflammatory agent, meaning that it helps you avoid or cure redness on skin. AND helps in reducing signs of acne.

Ingredients-wise, there is nothing problematic in this product. It delivers what it claims, which is really good.

Texture-wise, this one is in gel texture that feels almost like water, just slightly thicker. It feels very silky and weightless, which is super nice to use.

Overall, I'm giving this product a 8/10. Why not 9 or 10? Because it feels nice and it is not problematic but it's not very special either.

I am guessing it will be nicer to use for people who struggle with redness. I don't, so maybe that's why this product just feels so-so to me. But for you who have problems with redness, you might love this one.

If you notice I haven't told you the price and where I got these from hehe

The price range for The Ordinary products fall under the relatively affordable category. It is very very cheap overseas, but in Indonesia, as we still need to ship it, preorder it, and whatnots, the price ranges from 149.000-339.000 rupiahs, which is not cheap. But still relatively affordable, like I said.

I couldn't recall exactly how much each product I had costs, but my guess is salicylic acid and the primer were about 149.000 rupiahs. Azelaic 179.000, niacinamide 159.000, and the buffet is the most expensive at 339.000rupiahs.

Where did I buy it? I preordered it from theginaedit, it got delivered in 3 weeks. You can also buy it from @ponnybeaute on instagram. Just Line them and tell them you want to buy The Ordinary products. As far as I know, they always have cheapest price compared to other online shops.

You can check Skincarisma.com for the FULL ingredients breakdown!

Happy shopping! Let me know how these product work on you! Until next post, guys! <3
